The Value which is displayed in the dryer is the chiller evaporative temperature (water cooled dryers). Chiller is a closed stainless steel tank, which is weather resistant. These chillers are used to Maximise heat transfer rate with minimum pressure drop. Hence This should not be confused with pressure dew point since the temperature that is displayed in the dryer is measured in a condition where there is no contact with air. There will be change in temperature of air when it travels from chiller to dryer outlet where the dew point sensor is placed. So the dew point must be measured immediately at. The dryer outlet.
Dew Point is The Temperature at Which the Compressed Air Can Not Be Further Cooled without Condensation. The dew point is the temperature to which air must be cooled to become saturated with water vapour. When further cooled, the airborne water vapour will condense to form liquid water. When air cools to its dew point through contact with a surface that is colder than the air, water will condense on the surface.
The term Pressure Dew Point is encountered when measuring the dew point temperature of gases at pressures higher than atmospheric pressure. It refers to the dew point temperature of gas under pressure. This is important because changing the pressure of gas changes the dew point temperature of the Gas.
WADS Series Dew Point Sensors are Specially Designed for monitoring the dew point in Industrial application within the permissible operating parameters.
These parameters are,
a) Temperature of the Compressed air or gas
b) Humidity of the Compressed air or gas
C)Dew Point of the Compressed air or Gas
Generally Moisture Content in Compressed Air causes,
In Order to overcome those issues you should Use our WADS Series of Dew Point Sensors. Our WADS facilitates you to Daily Monitor the Dew Point so you may reduce your costly equipment repairs. You can also improve downstream air supply with better quality of Compressed Air. Further you can make your adjustments in Dryer performance to avoid moisture contamination in your plant. You can also lessen the dryer maintenance cost and make the compressed air System more reliable & efficient. This sensor can be connected with the data logger for recording trends of the actual pressure dew point.
Client: M/s GHCL Ltd – Madurai
Capacity: 1, 22,016 Spindles
GHCL Ltd is a Renowned Name in the Field of Indian Spinning Industry. GHCL Engaged Systel to Carry Out a Extensive Study to Assess the Present Condition of their Compressed Air System and Develop a Roadmap for Improvement. The Main Concern of GHCL’s Team was that inspite of having an Effective Internal Audit Team to Carry Out Regular Leak Checks and Repairs, they couldn’t achieve a Low Leakage Level. During the Audit Investigations it was found that the Dryer’s Pressure Dew Point was Very High in the Range of 27.4 o Ctd (As Against the Ideal Requirement of 3 o CTD) as shown in the below graph. Though GHCL’s Technical Team Was Very Efficient and Knowledgeable, they couldn’t identify this issue as they were following the values displayed in the Dryer Display and assumed it as the Actual Pressure Dew Point. After the Audit Findings GHCL’s Team understood the importance of maintaining Low Pressure Dew Point and Hence Undertook Necessary Service of the Dryer to Improve Performance. This is not a Remote Case rather quite common with many Industries. Very Soon GHCL will also be in their success journey in maintaining a low leakage level in their plant by getting their dew point under control.
